1. Update: Amidst a slew of announcements yesterday, Adobe also made final release versions of Camera Raw and DNG Converter 8.5 available for download. A few new cameras are now supported including the Canon Powershot G1 X Mark II, Olympus OM-D E-M10, Panasonic GH4 and Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III.
2. Camera Raw 8.2 is made available to Photoshop CC and CS6 users, while Adobe had released DNG Converter 8.2 for customers using versions older than Photoshop CS6. While Camera Raw 8.2 provides several new features, they are only available to Photoshop CC users.

UPDATE Oct. 18, 2017: Lightroom Classic 7, released today for CC subscribers, supports raw files from this camera. Adobe has indicated that there also will be a perpetual 6.13 update soon that will support it.

Lightroom, Adobe's raw-format processing and photo-management software for enthusiast and professional photographers, plays catch-up with the competition for version 6 -- Lightroom CC if you. Frequent updates provide support for the latest cameras as well as new features available in Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC. Camera Raw (2.3 or later) supports raw files in the Digital Negative (DNG), a raw file format made available to the public by Adobe. I am a new Mac user. When I adjust an image in Camera Raw (I have Photoshop CS4 and most up to date Camera Raw) and click the Done button my image is updated in Photoshop, Bridge and Camera Raw, however if I go into Finder on my Mac the preview is not updated and if I open the file in, say, Picasa, the original file is opened.

If you’re one of the lucky people to have a Nikon D850 on the way, I’m sure you have been wondering whether Lightroom will read its raw files and what you’ll do if not. In fact Lightroom can’t read them yet, but Adobe today released an updated version of its free DNG Converter (and Camera Raw 9.12.1) with support for this camera. Until we get a Lightroom update, convert your raw files to Adobe’s DNG raw format using this program that you can download here for Mac and for PC, and then you’ll be able to import these DNG files into Lightroom.

Any time you have a camera that isn’t supported by Lightroom but is supported by Camera Raw – maybe because you have an old version of Lightroom – you can convert them to DNG and then import them.

Now, if that doesn't do the trick, you'll have to download the free Adobe DNG Converter utility, which will convert files from over 200 any digital camera Raw files to a more universal RAW file.
