Firefox For Mac Open Pdf In Adobe Reader

In Firefox (for Mac), how can I get a PDF to open in a tab rather than in a separate Preview or Adobe Reader window?

  1. Pdf Reader
  2. Firefox Pdf Reader
  3. Adobe Pdf Viewer For Firefox
  4. Enable Adobe Reader In Firefox

Pdf Reader

The best thing to do if your Firefox fails to open a PDF file is to install a PDF Viewer such as Adobe Reader and enable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox. Another option would be to update your PDF viewer. Multiple Versions of Adobe Acrobat or Reader. Open Internet Explorer, Select Tools>Manage Add-Ons. Set the Show menu to All Add-Ons. Find and Select Adobe PDF Reader and make sure that Enable is selected. If you don’t find Adobe PDF Reader. Select Mozilla Firefox. Choose Preferences>Applications. Find ‘Portable Document. If an Adobe product is set as your default PDF reading program, the program will launch simply by double clicking on a PDF file. Adobe Reader, formerly called Adobe Acrobat Reader, is a free program released by Adobe that allows users to view PDF files.

When I use Firefox for Windows, I can click on a link to a PDF and the PDF will display (using Adobe Reader) in a Firefox tab. When I use Firefox on my Mac, every time I click on a link to open a PDF, either Adobe Reader or Preview will launch in a totally new window. It's annoying. Anyone know how to fix this?

  • I'm using PDFXchange Viewer to open PDF files, because it's much faster compared to Adobe Reader and I like the rendering better. I had to install Adobe Reader for testing purposes, and now Firefox opens every PDF document with the ultra-slow Adobe Reader.

You can install the PDF Browser Plugin.

Doesn't work on Intel macs.

If you're on an Intel Mac, you've got two choices:
1. 'Get Info' on Firefox and run it in Rosetta, and the plugin will work.
2. Hassle me to stop doing Cocoa challenges from Hillegass's programming book, and start working on a replacement for PDF Browser Plugin that's Universal. (I've got a friend that keeps bothering me about thisxE2x80多e uses the Rosetta solution right now, but I can't blame him for not particularly liking that workaround).

This is a good question, I'm new to macs (I just got a mac book a few weeks ago) and this has been bothering me too.

Firefox Pdf Reader

Alternatively, use Safari, which does do in-browser PDF display. (Assuming, of course, that in-browser PDF is less negotiable than using Firefox.)
