After years of flawless performance, a few weeks ago Adobe Acrobat Pro DC will no longer combine multiple Word documents into a single PDF. I can make PDFs from within Word. And I can export PDF documents to Word from within Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I can combine multiple PDF files into a single PDF from within Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

After asking the question on Adobe Acrobat support forums, it appears that there is no solution to the issue. Some people have had some success, but it varies and no solution has worked for me. I shouldn't have to completely wipe out my operating system and start over. I've tried every other solution offered except reinstalling the operating system.

What happens is when I try to combine the Word files, Acrobat Pro DC goes through the same steps as always (i.e. opens the Word files) but I get an error message that Adobe cannot continue with the file conversion. There are several other methods that can be used to combine Word files into a single PDF from within Acrobat Pro DC, but all fail with a similar message.

This is a critical process and it sounds like Word and Acrobat stopped communicating with each other at some point in the past month or so. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is there a way to revert to earlier releases of Word (I use an Office 365 subscription)?
